Design Automation
IAR Systems has made available additional debugging tools for Microchip's PIC18 family of microcontrollers with the announce- ment of support for the MPLAB-ICE 2000 emulator in its advanced C-SPY debugger. IAR's C-SPY debugger is an integrated part of IAR embedded workbench, a leading development environment for embedded applications.
IAR Systems was the first independent tool vendor to support Microchip's MPLAB-ICE 2000 emulator when it introduced the ICE 2000 version of C-SPY for the PIC16 and PIC17. IAR has taken the next logical step and has now introduced support for the popular PIC18CXXX product family in C-SPY for ICE 2000. Microchip's PIC18 product line is a popular family of high-end 8-bit microcontrollers, built around a Harvard-based RISC architecture. The product line is successfully used in a wide variety of applications.
With the aid of IAR C-SPY debugger for ICE 2000, developers can benefit from the advantages of debugging in realtime on real hardware, using an advanced high-level language debugger. Including the rich feature set of the simulator version, C-SPY for ICE 2000 also provides features utilising the hardware connectivity such as realtime tracing and realtime event detection.
