Sarantel has débuted two new antennas with different form factors and performance characteristics to suit a variety of GPS applications.
The rugged SL1153 antenna is a decafilar helix structure, aimed at high-performance applications requiring predictable and accurate phase centres. They meet requirements where accurate direction finding, precise knowledge of the antenna phase centre location, or very high levels of positional accuracy are required.
Ideal applications include handheld, body-worn devices or devices where the antenna would be surrounded by high dielectric materials that would de-tune conventional antennas; externally mounted devices and those in close proximity to other antennas; and devices used in harsh environments, subjected to force, dust or moisture.
The second debutant is the SL4103 hockey puck active L1/L2 GPS antenna. Built on patented PowerHelix filtering antenna technology, this high-gain antenna is rugged and overmoulded with magnetic mounting. It integrates high-gain low-noise amplifiers and SAW filtering with Sarantel’s GeoHelix 14 x 18 mm antenna elements.
The SL4103 is designed for vehicular mounting or other cabled applications in environments where there may be high levels of out-of-band jamming. Key features are +28 dBic peak gain (both L1 and L2) and operation at 3,5 V with typical 47 mA current consumption.
