Micrel’s DSC400 is a new four-output clock generator in the company’s ‘Crystal-less’ family. This is the first MEMS-based timing product launch built to open Micrel’s PureSilicon MEMS technology to provide excellent jitter and stability while incorporating additional device functionality.
The device targets a broad range of applications including communications and networks; Ethernet 1G, 10GBASE-T/KR/LR/SR and FCoE; storage area networks, FC, SATA, SAS, FTTH EPON, 10G-EPON, GPON and 10G-PON; HD/SD/SDI video and surveillance; automotive; media and video; and embedded and industrial.
As well as low RMS phase jitter of less than 1 ps and high stability with ±25 ppm and ±50 ppm options, the DSC400 offers high supply noise rejection of -50 dBc and generates four outputs, each of which may be independently configured for LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL or LVCMOS format.
With a wide frequency range of 2,3 MHz – 460 MHz, the device has excellent shock and vibration immunity (qualified to MIL-STD-88), high reliability and a wide supply range of 2,24 V to 3,6 V. The solution is RoHS compliant and is qualified to MIL-STD-883 and automotive AEC-Q100. It has a wide temperature range; (-20°C to 70°C for extended commercial and -40°C to 85°C for industrial) and is offered in a 20 QFN footprint (5 x 3,2 mm) package size.
