RS Components has expanded its interconnect offering targeted at the automotive sector with the introduction of two ranges of connection systems from Delphi Automotive, a leading global supplier of technologies for the automotive and commercial vehicle markets.
The first of these product lines is the Weather Pack connector series, which are designed to withstand exposure to the harsh conditions – such as extreme temperatures, chemicals and fluids – commonly found in automotive applications. The devices also feature tin-plated terminals with special core wings, which enable crimp-only connections and thus remove the necessity for soldering. Suitable for both in-line and panel-mount applications, the connector and cavity seals are triple-ribbed and made from self-lubricating silicone.
The second addition – the Metri-Pack connection system – features high-performance connectors in sealed or unsealed versions, compatible with processing techniques such as automated pull-to-seat and push-to-seat assembly, dual-stage crimping, load cell crimp inspection and automated part identification and orientation. They offer design flexibility thanks to internationally standardised male blade sizes, ranging from 1,5 mm to 8 mm, with current capacity between 14 and 60 A.
Ideal for low-energy electronic circuits or power circuit applications, Metri-Pack provides custom engineered direct connections to motors, switches and sensors, among other devices. Metri-Pack connector systems with silver interface platings pass the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) J2030 Heavy-Duty Electrical Connector standard.
