Before upgrading to Advantech's PPC-100T-T panel PC, a textile plant in Georgia, USA, was using a primitive system to function as the PC-controller for the interface between heavy duty machinery, equipment and software. The old system was expensive to operate and very large, therefore it could not be conveniently mounted. It could not withstand the high temperatures in the factory and would overheat and crash. Due to this, the company would sometimes endure hours of downtime, and consequently get behind in its production schedules.
According to the company, Advantech's PPC-100T-T handles all the processing involved in running the plant smoothly. In addition to being small and user-friendly, the panel PC has a stainless steel housing to withstand high temperatures, humidity, dust and moisture found in harsh industrial environments.
Wonderware software is used to integrate the manufacturing and management information systems. These integrated systems are run together as a complete processing system.
With its monitoring and processing capability, combined with RS-232 communication, the PPC-100T-T successfully runs the fabrication and packaging facilities in Georgia. In addition, the panel PC easily integrates with existing systems due to its PC architecture states Advantech.
