Latest generation of Boeing advanced satellite digital signal processors built

Four generations of very large-scale digital signal processors have been built by Boeing Satellite Systems for its satellites. The latest is for Spaceway, a high-speed broadband communications system. The multimillion-gate ASICs that will power the Spaceway DSPs were designed by BSS and delivered to IBM for fabrication. The ASICs enable the DSPs to execute key functions such as demodulation/modulation, fast packet switching, and control of the revolutionary Spaceway active phased-array downlink antenna.
