Altreonic has made upgrades to its design, programming and portal solutions for the development of trustworthy systems.
The new version of GoedelWorks, its end-to-end portal platform, improves performance and stability, introduces many new features that ease repetitive tasks, and improves existing functionalities. Some of the new features are the outcome of an RTOS Qualification Package project.
The GoedelWorks platform running on the central server has also been updated to make use of the latest stable, production-ready technologies. Revising the entire platform has resulted in a cleaner and easier to maintain environment.
GoedelWorks 3.0 is not only available under an open technology licensing scheme but users can also access their portal under an SaaS model.
Also receiving an update was VirtuosoNext, the company’s high-level design and programming solution, which is now at version 1.1. It is derived from, and inherits the features of, the formally developed network-centric and distributed OpenComRTOS.
VirtuosoNext adds the capability to apply fine-grain time and space partitioning when the hardware supports it, and provides safety measures to trap runtime errors without the system coming to a halt. The approach separates the code in a trusted zone (managed by the kernel) and an untrusted zone (executing application tasks).
Contrary to traditional hypervisor approaches, the code size and performance penalty is minimal, safeguarding the real-time response of a traditionally unprotected RTOS as standard priority based pre-emptive scheduling is maintained. This new release has also restructured the code, resulting in even smaller code sizes. On the ARM-M3, the VirtuosoNext kernel measures between 8 and 11,5 KB, while on the ARM-A9, it measures between 15 and 22 KB.
VirtuosoNext supports ARM M3/M4/R4/R5 and the A7/A9/A15 processor family. The user has the option to enable the protection on specified processing nodes in a distributed or multi-core target system.
