A new generation of low-cost, compact C-, Ku- and X-band block up-converters (BUC) has been released by Alga / Mitec VSAT. Built for VSAT stabilised platforms and mobile stations, they also offer benefits for fixed site and offshore applications. Weighing less than 3,2 kg makes them ideal for feed mounting.
The units use a single form factor design with a weatherproof construction utilising an IP65 rated housing and fan. They are rated for 10 W to 50 W of available power and 5 W to 20 W of linear power, and feature dual LO (switchable).
Built-in telemetry is provided for critical parameters such as RF power detection, mute control, over-temperature shutdown and summary alarm. Interfacing is provided by a web interface, SNMP monitoring, RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet and dry-contacts M&C interface. Optional 1:1 switching logic built into the BUC can eliminate the need for an expensive external controller.
