Linear Technology's LT1946A is a fixed frequency step-up DC/DC converter incorporating a 1,5 A, 36 V internal switch. The 2,7 MHz switching frequency allows the use of a 1,5 µH inductor, which is available in a low profile (1mm) package, as well as tiny, low value ceramic capacitors, making the entire solution profile under 1,1mm. The LT1946A operates from an input voltage range of 2,6 V to 16 V, and can generate output voltages up to 34 V. It is capable of generating 430 mA at 8 V from a 3,3 V input, making it ideal for large TFT-LCD displays. Similar to LT1946 (1,2 MHz), soft-start is controlled with an external capacitor, which determines the input current ramp during start up. To optimize thermal management, the LT1946A has been packaged in a thermally enhanced 8-lead MSOP.
