Developer kits provide RF integration tools and engineering support

10 April 2002 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

To help reduce R&D costs and speed time to market, AeroComm is offering a comprehensive set of RF development tools. The company says that the combination of complete transceivers plus RF integration support enables manufacturers without RF expertise to rapidly integrate wireless connectivity into industrial products or processes.

Historically, OEMs had to start with radio chipsets, which require significant RF capability. AeroComm's concept of ready-to-use agency-approved RF simplifies design efforts. Each AeroComm developer kit contains radios and all accessories needed to build ConnexRF radios into most applications. Not only a set of parts, the company says that each kit also comes with a dedicated AeroComm design engineer to assist throughout development, integration, antenna selection and certification.

Hardware items include ConnexRF transceivers, RS232 adapter boards, power adapters and cables, antennas, and documentation. Software is also provided on CD ROM. The menu-driven Windows/DOS-compatible drivers provide several helpful development utilities, allowing OEMs to perform tests for configuration modes, range measurements and data throughput. Designers can also easily program the radios to any configuration with the EEPROM viewer/editor feature.

Every RF product line is required to meet regulatory compliance such as FCC (USA), IC (Canada) and ETSI/CE (Europe). The existing transceiver approvals help eliminate effort, but for final product compliance, AeroComm has experts to guide OEMs through the approval process.
