Sipex offers two proprietary multiprotocol ICs, the SP509, claimed to be the industry's only 40 Mbps multiprotocol IC, and the SP508, claimed to be the industry's smallest footprint multiprotocol solution. Both ICs are 5 V only, 8-channel multiprotocol, serial transceivers capable of all common serial transmission protocols, with programmable DTE/DCE mode, on-chip termination resistors, and improved ESD tolerance (15 kV HBM) on its analog I/Os.
The current mode architecture of the SP508 and SP509 V.35 drivers provide constant current into attached serial data cables. This eliminates voltage drops in the cable and ensures compliant voltage swings at the inputs of the receiving serial ports. Improved ESD tolerance on the analog I/O pins (15 kV HBM) and the flow-through pin-out increase the ease of use of the product and minimise serial port damage when data cables are connected and disconnected.
The SP508 and SP509 are capable of transmitting and receiving in all popular data communications interface protocols.
