Intersil has introduced a dual-band 802.11a and 802.11g wireless local area networking (WLAN) solution capable of transmitting high-speed video, voice and data at speeds of up to 54 Mbps while remaining 100% backward compatible to the existing installed base of over 15 million Wi-Fi (802.11b) systems worldwide.
The new PRISM Duette, a unique two-chip solution, allows seamless mobility between 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz WLANs. It features Intersil's highly integrated Baseband Processor and Medium Access Controller (BBP/MAC) and direct down conversion (ZIF) architecture and uses dual-band OFDM-based (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) technology.

Editor's Choice Circuit & System Protection
As soon as electronics and electrical systems started interfering with each other, the world had to come to some consensus. Considering physics is universal and does not care about what country electrical/electronic products are used in, it should be the same everywhere, right? It is nearly there, but not quite.
