LIU supports 311 MHz clock

17 July 2002 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

TDK Semiconductor has added a new SONET/SDH line interface unit (LIU) to its family of broadband communication ICs. The 78P2254 operates at 155,52 Mbps (STS-3 or STM-1) rates and provides a synchronised clock that can be used for backplanes operating at 311 MHz speeds. This device is an ideal choice for 311 MHz backplane applications, WAN/ATM transmission, DSLAMs, digital cross-connects, add/drop multiplexers, test equipment, and digital loop carrier (DLC) equipment where low power consumption, small size, and high performance are required.

The 78P2254 interfaces to a 75 Ohm coaxial cable using CMI coding and provides all of the necessary transmit and receive circuitry to interface to a digital framer via serial PECL or parallel 4 or 8 bit CMOS. Produced in a BiCMOS technology, the device is built for high performance and low power operation. Using a 3,3 or 5 V power supply the 78P2254 comes in a 64-pin TQFP package.
