In response to the changing needs of the GSM phone service market to meet faster turnaround times, limited budgets and skill shortages, WWG SA has introduced the Wavetek 4201S. The 4201S GSM tester is especially designed for the requirements of GSM service and repair sites as it is very accurate, easy to handle and affordable according to the distributor.
"With the 4201S, service depots can now purchase a high quality tester offering all the features they need, for approximately a third of the price of comparable testers. With a dynamic range of 60 dB and 0,9 dB accuracy, the 4201S provides reliable and fast measurements, which means the service depot can provide high quality customer support and reduce turnaround times. Prompts for operation and test results are clearly displayed for ease of viewing and the small size takes up minimal bench space, so the technician can focus on the mobile itself," comments Paul Louckx at WWG SA.
Low-level repair of mechanical items and pre-customer test is easy. At mid-level service, board swaps and module exchanges need alignment. After chip-level repair, complete and accurate fast alignment stations based upon factory test system are needed.
The 4201S is ideal for mid-level service, delivering accurate RF measurements plus all the features to match the latest generation of mobiles, with dual band testing, modulation spectrum measurements for I/Q alignment, SMS, data and fax testing for digital messaging and timing advance testing for correct phone base station alignment. In addition, the audio loopback mode tests the latest EFR Codec performance at low signal levels.
The features increase test throughput, provide faster fault finding and extend test capability.
Optional accessories for the GSM test set include; wide range of RF cable adapters; GSM test SIMs; Universal Antenna Coupler provides easy connection to any mobile (GSM 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) without the need for special connectors; Utility Software package to allow the user to modify test limits on a PC, change the test order or other parameters (up to 20 user defined AUTOTESTs can be stored on a 4201S).
Firmware updates will be available free of charge, either via the Internet or in the form of disks, making the Wavetek 4201S a product which is prepared for future technology extensions.
