I/O accelerator for 'smart' PCI target design
31 July 2002
Computer/Embedded Technology
The PCI 9030 with SMARTarget technology from PLX Technology offers an array of features that the company says defines a new level of performance, flexibility and simplicity in PCI designs. This 32 bit, 33 MHz PCI v.2.2-compliant device with burst transfers up to 132 MBps, can deliver high performance to new PCI-based adapters as well as those migrating from legacy designs.
The device has a 60 MHz local bus, 3 V/5V operation, programmable general-purpose I/Os (GPIOs) and chip selects which together bring flexibility to a wide variety of memory and I/O devices. The combination of these features make adapters used in high-bandwidth applications, such as telecom and data communications interface cards, easier to design. Other performance features are: posted memory writes; and PCI target read ahead /programmable burst/delayed write.
Flexibility features: supports 5 PCI to local address spaces; nine programmable GPIOs; four programmable chip-selects; CompactPCI hot swap ready; Big/Little Endian conversion; interrupt generator; PCI v1.1 power management.; 3,3 V, 5 V tolerant PCI signalling; JTAG; 3,3 V CMOS device in 180-pin µBGA or 176-pin PQFP.
