IPC-6806 used in fingerprint identification application

Fingerprint identification systems make use of the unique and unchangeable characteristics of personal fingerprints to provide accurate personal identity verification.

It compares a live-scan captured by the fingerprint reader with fingerprint data already stored in the computer system. Applications include, for example, employee time and attendance systems, access control to computer data, authorisation of business transactions, security and guarding systems.

A renowned fingerprint identification system maker, Startek Engineering, has produced a fingerprint verifier, fingerprint access control, and a fingerprint live-scan booking system. The fingerprint verifier won the IF Industrial Forum Design Award at CeBIT, Hannover.

Startek's fingerprint verification system uses two of Advantech's leading products: the IPC-6806 compact chassis, together with the PCA-6159 CPU card as the system engine. The verification system has been successfully implemented in many enterprises and government offices. It features high-speed scanning and matching of fingerprint images, and a low false rejection rate.

Each fingerprint identification unit requires an IPC-6806 chassis and PCA-6159 as the main controller. These products boast rugged features that withstand extreme environmental pressures such as abnormal temperatures, dust and vibration. The unit can also be conveniently wall-mounted. The highly reliable PC-based platform has enabled development of dependable nonstop round-the-clock systems in a variety of operating environments.

PC-based architecture also allows system integrators to easily incorporate other existing applications such as pay-rolling, scheduling, and contract cost management.
