Signalling processor for 'Leisure Band' radio
10 September 2002, Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

CML Microcircuits has released its latest full-function half-duplex audio and signalling processor IC for FRS, PMR446, GMRS and MURS type radios. The CMX883 device is a low power single-chip building block for both simple and complex handheld radios. Under host microcontroller control, all audio requirements are catered for: voiceband and sub-audio filtering, pre/de-emphasis, compression and expansion, audio routing and global level setting with single or two-point modulation available in the transmit path. In addition to the standard signalling functions of extended-code CTCSS and DCS, the unique XTCSS code system provides more and better squelch privacy codes and eliminates interference caused by other traffic.
