MMX-based panel PC with colour LCD display

9 October 2002 Computer/Embedded Technology

The PPC-150T from Advantech is a Celeron and Pentium MMX-based panel PC with a 15" TFT colour LCD and a resolution of up to 1024 x 768. It features multimedia devices and various connectors, and can be installed in virtually any application. The PPC-150T presents an ideal solution for information appliances, such as interactive kiosks, point of information terminals and point of sale terminals.

The front panel is compliant with IP65 requirements and the watchdog timer and power management features make the system both secure and stable.

The PPC-150T is designed with one expansion slot for PCI/ISA cards, two USB ports, and one PCMCIA card bus. With these expansion capabilities, it not only functions as an HMI, but also as a computing centre around which the application may be built.

Maintaining and replacing the LCD and touchscreen are made easier through the PPC-150T's modular design. To replace a defective LCD or touchscreen, one merely needs to remove the front cover and LCD bracket instead of disassembling the whole system.

The customer can choose from three types of touchscreen options, namely resistive, capacitive and SAW (surface acoustic wave). All three kinds of touchscreens are standard. Multiple touchscreen options make the PPC-150T a more user-friendly interface for integration systems in different environments
