2U slimline CompactPCI integrated system

23 October 2002 Computer/Embedded Technology

Elma Trenew Electronics has added the new 2U CPCI slimline integrated system to its range of CompactPCI integrated systems. The system, with a height of 2U, width of 84 TE and a depth of 305 mm, integrates a 4 slot CPCI backplane, 200 W power supply and three powerful fans. Up to four boards, with the form factor 6U x 160 mm for the front and 6U x 80 mm for the rear cards, can be plugged into the horizontally-mounted backplane.

Other features of this product are, two drive cassettes for 3,5" HDD, one for FDD and a CD-ROM. Also, there is a control and monitoring unit for the fans integrated on the backplane with an error display at the front of the unit. Mains connection, including the mains switch, of this CPCI system is to the rear, with an inhibit switch on the front panel for ease of operation.

The solid 19" EMC chassis, manufactured from hot-dip galvanised sheetmetal, can be used as a desktop system or be mounted into a rack. Due to the compact design it is an ideal solution for data and telecom applications.

The 6U backplane has 4 slots to the front and 4 slots for rear I/O. The fan control is integrated in backplane. The mains connection and main switch in the rear, inhibit and LED in front panel, It is fully compliant to IEEE 1101.10/.11.

The superior EMC shielding concept gives excellent shielding even in high-frequency range applications. The standard version will be produced with a black powder-coated front panel although different colours can be made available if required.

For higher power requirements Elma offer the flexible and efficient 200 W power supply unit with active PFC for input voltages of 90-264 V a.c. and the output voltages +3,3 V d.c./15 A, +5 V d.c./25 A, -5 V d.c./0,5 A +12 V d.c./13 A, and -12 V d.c./1 A (output 3,3 V and 5 V max. 130 W).
