Streamline your business with GSM technology

23 October 2002 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

In today's challenging economic times, all businesses must continuously evaluate ways and means to streamline not only their manufacturing and operating processes, but also managing their finances competently. Management must therefore look at ways of utilising the time and skills of their employees to the fullest financial advantage of the organisation. This 'intellectual capital', if not managed properly, can put a heavy burden upon the organisation.

One of the key functions of the operations manager is therefore to manage the employees' time and to implement strategies that will not only save time and money, but also make the whole operation more efficient.

GSM and GPRS telemetry offers many solutions to streamline an organisation. One of the primary advantages is its vast range of applications. Applications that include, for example, vending machines in rural areas.

One of Wavecom's products, the Fastrack modem, is a rugged solution for standalone type applications such as vending machines. It is no longer necessary for a representative of the organisation to physically inspect the machines and check the stock levels, as the machine itself will 'phone in' when its stock needs to be replenished. It can even be programmed to report operational faults or if it is tampered with.

This modem is also installed in electricity meters or alarm systems where fixed line access is a problem. In fact, any type of distant metering can be done where there is no access to telephone lines. The Fastrack modem can send back an uninterrupted stream of data even under the harshest conditions.

Wavecom's full range of WISMO wireless GSM and GPRS modems offer technology that opens the spectrum in applications and are flexible, easy-to-use and highly cost effective. Since Wavecom only manufactures GSM / GPRS and CDMA modems and modules and it remains, therefore, strictly product and application focused.

Wavecom also offers savings in the installation of telemetry applications. It manufactures the world's smallest Quad band GSM/GPRS and CDMA modular solutions with the capability to embed a wide range of applications on the module itself. This eliminates components, additional processing requirements, board space, and optimises size requirements to the minimum for applications where space is a problem.
