High sensitivity RF measuring receiver

Linear Technology's LT5504, a high sensitivity RF power detector and measuring receiver, can detect an RF input signal from 800 MHz to 2700 MHz with an input power range of -75 dBm to +5 dBm. The logarithm of the RF input signal is precisely converted to a linear DC voltage (ie dBm to volts). The device's 80 dB ultra-wide dynamic range is achieved by measuring the RF input signal simultaneously in the RF and IF domains. The IC is housed in 8-lead MSOP and requires no external matching network. Applications include transmit power control in CDMA or W-CDMA base-stations, fast automatic-gain-control (AGC) in receivers, and precision measurement instrumentation. It consists of RF/IF limiters and detectors, a mixer, a 3rd-order 450 MHz integrated low pass filter, and an output interface. The required input power level to the LO signal is low (from -16 dBm to -8 dBm), and the LO frequency range is wide (from 50 MHz to 450 MHz).
