This year a Motorola microprocessor was awarded recognition as the best high-performance embedded processor of 2001 in the In-Stat/MDR Annual Analysts' Choice Awards. In-Stat/MDR is a leading micro-processor research and analysis firm which publishes Microprocessor Report.
Motorola's MPC7455 can deliver speeds up to 1 GHz and is pin-for-pin compatible with the company's other MPC745x processors. The chip offers a powerful, yet versatile processing solution for embedded systems, computing systems, as well as high-performance network infrastructure and telecommunications equipment.
"Motorola's certified EEMBC benchmark scores indicate that the performance of their MPC7455 processor makes it the heavy-lifting champion in single-core embedded processors," stated Cary Snyder, senior analyst with In-Stat/MDR. "Motorola has a winner when they couple this with the fact that the MPC7455's highly optimised pipeline delivers such exceptional clock speeds when implemented in a 0,18-micron silicon-on-insulator process."
Motorola's family of host processors - including the MPC7455 - is part of the company's Smart Networks Platform to provide a single solution for developing networking applications.
