Analog Devices has announced the availability of its new UltrADSL firmware. ADI's UltrADSL provides high levels of performance with enhanced rates and extended reach. On medium length loops up to 1676 m, UltrADSL can achieve a rate of 12,8 Mbps. For longer loops, UltrADSL provides a maximum reach of 7100 m. This technology is now available on ADI's Anaconda central office (CO) as well as its Eagle and Pathfinder client premises equipment (CPE) ADSL chipsets.
UltrADSL technology uses partially-overlapped downstream and upstream spectra in combination with digital echo cancellation. The extended reach performance is a result of the company's unique understanding of complex ADSL hybrid circuitry. By combining these superior rates with new reach, ADI says that UltrADSL will enable its numerous CO and CPE ADSL customers to reach more homes and businesses with rates higher than any other ADSL chipset solution. The 12,8 Mbps data rate will enable two or three digital video streams to be delivered to customers, enabling video on demand and other advanced services.
