The FL Switch 5TX Ethernet switch from Phoenix Contact enables quick and cost-effective network expansions. Compared to previous solutions, this halves the price per port, says the company, making the switch ideally suited to decentralised network solutions. At just 45 mm wide it is an easy, configuration-free Ethernet port for control cabinets.
Additional network segments or terminals can be connected to the five twisted-pair ports. The switch supports 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps transfer speeds, even in mixed mode. This means it is no problem to connect network segments or participants with the same or different data transfer rates. There are no more data collisions. The switch regenerates the data messages it receives and only sends them to the port that the participant with the corresponding target address is connected to. In comparison to transmission via hubs, this intelligent technology markedly reduces the volume of data traffic and simultaneously increases bandwidth, says the manufacturer.
