Extreme performance promised with Virtex-II FPGAs on PMC
12 February 2003
Computer/Embedded Technology
Transtech DSP's PMC-FPGA02, a PMC module equipped with a three XC2V3000, or six million gate (XC2V6000) Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA, has a 500 MBps 64-bit/66 MHz PCI interface, 128 MB SDRAM, six 1 MB banks of high speed QDR SRAM and a reconfigurable digital I/O port. This module provides engineers access to a previously unavailable amount of re-configurable logic and fast, customisable interfaces capable of moving data through the FPGA in realtime. The capacity, speed and flexibility of the PMC-FPGA02 make it an ideal choice to address the most demanding radar, inspection and telecommunication basestation applications.
Utility software for the PMC-FPGA02 is provided. This software, running on Windows and selected Linux and VxWorks hosts facilitates loading VHDL into the FPGA, establishes DMA transfers between the FPGA and the host computer, and programs FLASH memory for embedded operation.
