Industrial data acquisition software

26 February 2003 Computer/Embedded Technology

GeniDAQ application software, locally available from ProMicro, takes advantage of Microsoft Windows multitasking capabilities to enhance system performance. It provides plug-and-play connectivity with most devices offering fast configuration of HMI and data acquisition applications.

According to the distributor, GeniDAQ combines easy-to-use graphical development and the flexibility of the powerful BasicScript programming tool. Its networking capability allows a computer in the control room to display data being collected by computers on the factory floor, or vice versa.

Over 600 commands are available to perform calculations, reading and writing files, DDE, ODBC and numerous other functions. The software allows the user to access and share data with other applications such as Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.

The software speeds up task scanning by separating time-consuming display drawing from I/O scanning and raising the scan priority of task, no matter how complex the display is, says ProMicro. It also provides a parallel scan for each task.

A wide variety of graphical wizards allow users to quickly create a user interface. The built-in display objects include bar graph, button, indicator, realtime trending, historical trending, guage, slider, imported bitmap, numeric display and control. GeniDAQ also offers drawing tools to customise and create vivid user interfaces.
