To meet the requirements of OEMs designing machines for packaging, mechanical handling, food processing and other applications, Omron developed a class of panel meter that builds in a higher degree of functionality and intelligence, but without the cost penalty and complexity of a full specification PID controller.
Compact and intelligent, the K3GN is a 1/32 DIN, 'smart' digital panel meter offering features such as scalable inputs and RS485 communications. Designed to cover a wide range of applications, it is suited for use as a process meter (using its DC voltage/current input), or as an RPM meter/tachometer (using its frequency input), to accuracy of ±0,1% of full scale value.
The K3GN accepts a range of industry-standard analogue inputs, including 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 1-5 V d.c., 0-5 V d.c., ±5 V d.c. and ±10 V d.c., whilst the input frequency range is from zero to 5 kHz. For increased versatility, the displayed values can be scaled to convert input signals into desired physical values.
There is a choice of outputs, including two relay outputs, three NPN transistor outputs or three PNP transistor outputs, all of which can be supplied with or without the RS485 communications option. In addition each output can be configured independently to act as a high limit, low limit or both high and low limit output.
A key feature of the K3GN is the ease with which it can be configured either from the front panel, or remotely from a PC via the RS485 interface using Omron's free temperature controller and panel meter programming software, SYS-Config.
The 5-digit display is a high visibility design, using a high contrast, backlit LCD, easy to view at almost any angle. The display colour can be set to red or green as preferred and can also be set to change colour when an alarm state is reached.
For use in arduous areas, the front panel is sealed to NEMA4X/IP66. The K3GN is CE marked for conformity with all relevant EN/IEC standards, and is UL/CSA approved.
