Ultra 160 64-bit SCSI RAID subsystem

26 March 2003 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech's RAID-500 Series includes model RAID-500U3 that supports Ultra 160 SCSI SCA interface HDD. Customers can take advantage of the high performance from the Ultra 160 (up to 160 MB/s) SCSI bus, and the high reliability of the hot-swappable SCA (80-pins) HDD.

RAID-500 series integrates a SCSI-to-SCSI 64-bit RAID controller, which provides a host-independent RAID function, offering high scalability, capacity, and data security. One can handle the RAID-500 subsystem as easily as handling a single SCSI HDD, claims Advantech. It can be connected to any standard Ultra160 SCSI adapter card without additional software driver for any operating system, thus compatibility problems are avoided. It also features redundant host and controller operation, ensuring high data availability.

Features: host-independent RAID solution; 64-bit RISC high performance RAID processor; Ultra 160 SCSI to SCSI interface; host OS independent; RAID levels 0, 1, (0+1), 3, 5, 10, 30, 50; eight SCA-2 hot swap disk drive bays; multiple host, MSCS clustering support; Web and text-based GUI management software; management via in-band SCSI, LAN SNMP, and RS232.
