The QPA1724 amplifier from Qorvo is a GaN MMIC power amplifier that operates from 17,3 to 21,2 GHz. It is capable of delivering a saturated output power of 20 W (approx. 43 dBm) with a small signal gain of 25 dB and power-added efficiency (PAE) of 27%. This amplifier is fabricated on Qorvo’s production 0,15 μm GaN using a SiC process (QGaN15).
To simplify system integration, the QPA1724 is fully matched to 50 Ω with DC-grounded I/O ports for optimum ESD performance. The amplifier also includes on-chip blocking capacitors following the DC grounds on the input and output ports.
The QPA1724 is available in a package that measures 7,5 x 6 x 1,6 mm and is ideally suited for wide-bandwidth multi-carrier high-data-throughput satellite applications. The amplifier can also be used for communication and radar applications in both commercial and military markets.
