Dallas Semiconductor's DS21448, a fully integrated four-channel line interface unit (LIU), combines T1/J1 and E1 with long and short haul. The DS21448 has state-of-the-art receiver and transmitter circuitry. When configured for long haul, the receiver uses gain and equalisation to provide 43 dB (E1 mode) and 36 dB (T1 mode) sensitivity. It also allows user-defined receive-side termination for 75 Ω, 100 Ω, or 120 Ω for T1 or E1 operation. The transmitter drives waveforms with superior template compliance and includes line build-out control and a pattern generator.
The DS21448 also includes an AMI/HDB3/B8ZS generator/detector; 8-bit parallel, serial, and hardware data interfaces; and diagnostic capabilities such as loopbacks, PRBS pattern generator/detector, loss-of-signal indicator, and JTAG boundary scan architecture.
The DS21448 is a lower cost-per-port alternative and direct replacement for the 3,3 V DS21Q348. It comes in 144-pin BGA and 128-pin LQFP packages in commercial and industrial temperature ranges.
