Ultraviolet/visible spot curing system for manual-precision assembly
30 July 2003Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering has released the EXFO Lite Ultraviolet/Visible Spot-Curing System for manual-precision assembly environments. This system, the latest addition to a full suite of light-based, adhesive spot-curing solutions developed during the past 15 years, comes equipped with a new iris adjustment feature to allow user-selectable intensity levels. This spot-curing system has a small footprint and long lamp life, which enable customers to save on bench space and operating costs. User-changeable optical filters allow its broad spectral output to be tailored to specific applications, while protecting heat-sensitive substrates. Filter changes are made externally without having to turn the unit off.
"This entry-level system is the direct result of customer feedback over the years," said Allan Firhoj, general manager of EXFO Photonic Solutions. "Some customers do not necessarily need a full-fledged system for their low-volume, manual-precision assembly applications. As a result, our R&D specialists have designed a unit to meet these specific requirements in a cost-conscious marketplace."
The EXFO Lite delivers power with control. Output intensity and exposure times can be set from the user-friendly front panel. The new 9-pin I/O port allows the user to control the unit externally. Internal control systems maintain optimum operating conditions to ensure reliable, repeatable cures.
EXFO is the industry leader in light-based, adhesive spot-curing as well as curing process control for the manufacturing of fibre-optic, opto-electronic, and micro-electronic components, as well as other research applications. These products deliver precise doses of the appropriate spectral light onto photosensitive and heat-cured adhesives to significantly reduce bonding time and increase repeatability.
