The XT55 is said to be the first compact tri-band GSM/GPRS module equipped with a GPS receiver for satellite navigation. The combination of these two technologies allows seamless tracking of goods, vehicles, and persons. This new tracking module from Siemens Mobile will make many new applications possible, particularly in the fields of transportation and logistics as well as security.

Designed with an aggressive integration concept in mind, the XT55 combines GSM/GPRS and GPS functionalities. This combination enables a wide range of tracking solutions in applications such as fleet management, vehicle tracking, navigation, emergency calling, and location-based services. The module can, for instance, make the transportation of valuable freight more secure by continually transmitting positioning data on the location of the freight to the owner and the freight forwarder.

Th XT55 module has pre-configured functions and its compact size make it easy to integrate into new applications. The custom evaluation kit includes various standard settings and protocols, enabling seamless integration into new applications.

Key features include: GSM tri-band (900/1800/1900 MHz); GPRS multislot class 10/Station class B; compact dimensions (53 x 34 x 5,1 mm); low power consumption in energy-saving mode; integrated TCP/IP stack; GPRS class 10; quicker positioning via 12 parallel channels; supply voltage is 3,3-4,8 V; 80-pin board-to-board connection.
