Non-stick domes for membrane switches

Taking advantage of its experience on the switch dome market, Nicomatic has launched a type of metal dome, the Switch'air non-stick dome. This patented dome helps to create a cushion of air between the domes so that they do not stick together. The company offers a range of Switch'Air non-stick 4-leg and round domes in the following diameters: 4 and 5 mm (round), 6 mm, 8,4 mm and 12,2 mm (with and without dimple, activation forces from 150 to 420 g, and with different platings).

The domes can be ordered in bulk quantities, in tubes of 800 domes each or in sheets for custom made arrays. The packaging in tubes is compatible with our high assembly processes (metal dome placement machines) while key dome arrays are the most cost effective solution for a simple switch with a superior tactile interface between equipment and the user.

The domes are produced in a class 10 000 clean room environment and can be designed with 'Kiss cuts' (a series of cuts in the polyester/adhesive carrier around the dome) or with a spacer (additional layer applied under the retaining layer with channels enabling a volume of air around the dome). This technique prevents any metal dome movement throughout the guaranteed life of the product. They can be assembled on PCB or with a keypad.
