For use in areas with a Zone 2 explosion risk, Phoenix Contact offers the Quint Diode redundancy module compliant with type 'n' explosion protection as defined by EN 50 021. This means that power supplies connected in parallel to offer redundancy can be fully decoupled.
The use of power supplies with high operational reliability increases the availability of the overall system. Redundant circuits also minimise downtimes. The power supplies involved are dimensioned so that the overall power requirement of all consumers can be covered by a single device. If the system availability is to be increased even further, the logical solution is to use a redundancy module. Even if a short circuit were to occur at the output of one of the power supplies, the second automatically takes over the task of supplying the consumers, thus ensuring an uninterrupted power supply.
The redundancy module uses load currents of up to 60 A in ambient temperatures in the Ex area of -25 to 60°C. The modules can be snapped onto the mounting rails, thus facilitating fast and simple installation. An international certification package means that the module can be used worldwide.
