First all-CMOS single-chip UWB solution claimed

Staccato Communications has introduced what it claims to be the industry's first true single-chip, all-CMOS solution based on Certified Wireless USB. Called 'Ripcord', the family is implemented in a complete system-in-package using 110 nm digital CMOS process technology. Ripcord provides a complete, fully integrated solution for the first commercial applications of high-speed UWB at 480 Mbps based on Certified Wireless USB. Its high level of integration consolidates all hardware and software components necessary to implement a Wireless USB solution into a single 12 x 14,5 mm package. In most product designs, customers need only an external antenna for a complete node based on Certified Wireless USB. The Ripcord family is based on the WiMedia Alliance's UWB common radio platform and the Certified Wireless USB specification from the USB Implementers Forum.
