Ghi Electronics' USBwiz is a small integrated circuit that allows users to add USB connectivity (keyboard, mouse, joystick, printer etc) to a system very easily. It also includes the FAT file system so one can run USB thumb drives and external USB (FAT formatted) hard drives. Also, being TCP/IP aware, it can be used to connect a product to the Internet (or LAN) through wires or wirelessly.
No USB knowledge is necessary as the device is plug-and-play. Through simple commands over UART SPI or I²C (similar to ALFAT), files can be read/written from a thumb drive or SD/MMC card. It can be used with any microcontroller including for example, PIC, AVR, and Basic Stamp. Firmware is field upgradeable, and it is packaged in LQFP 64.
