Maxim's MAX2112 is a low-cost, zero-IF, direct-conversion tuner for satellite TV. It receives QPSK and 8PSK signals in the 925 MHz to 2175 MHz range, and down-converts them to baseband for demodulation. To reduce total solution size and cost, it provides a low, 8,0 dB noise figure and wide,
-75 dBm to 0 dBm dynamic range, thus eliminating the need for an external LNA. Additionally, its VCO auto-tuner function simplifies firmware for ease of use. The MAX2112 is suitable for DVB-S2 and free-to-air applications in which low cost and ease of use are key requirements. The device operates from a single 3,3 V supply, consumes only 300 mW, and is designed for use with a 27 MHz crystal. The MAX2112 is packaged in a 5 mm x 5 mm, 28-pin TQFN and is available in both the commercial (0°C to +70°C) and extended industrial temperature (-40°C to +85°C) ranges.
