Advantech's EKI-2541M (multimode) and EKI-2541S (single mode) Ethernet to fibre-optic media converters transparently convert Ethernet signals to fibre-optic signals. They provide such advantages as wide bandwidth, EMI immunity and long-distance transmission capabilities to industrial networks. With their unique compact design with outer metal shell casing, they are robust and reliable.
The devices also feature the LFP (link fault pass-through) function. In common situations, when one side of the link fails, the other side continues transmitting packets, and waiting for a response that never arrives from the disconnected side. By using the internal jumper to enable the LFP function, the EKI-2541M/S will force the link to shut down when it notices that the other link has failed, giving the application software an alert to react to the situation.
The converters support MDI/MDIX auto detection, making crossover cables unnecessary. They operate from -10 to 60°C and accept a wide voltage range from 12 to 48 V d.c. They also provide 3000 V d.c. surge (EFT) protection on power lines and 4000 V d.c. ESD on Ethernet ports, making them suitable for harsh industrial environments.
