Advantech's ADAM-6542 Ethernet to single-strand WDM fibre-optic converter adopts WDM technology that increases the information carrying capacity of fibre by multiplexing transmit and receive signals at different wavelengths.
The WDM technology is implemented in pairs: one site is installed with an ADAM-6542/W15 with a 1550 nm transmit channel and a 1310 nm receive channel. The other site is installed with an ADAM-6542/W13 with a 1310 nm transmit channel and a 1550 nm receive channel. This allows for both sites to transmit and receive channels on the single-strand fibre.
The modules support MDI/MDIX auto crossover and 1-port 100 Mbps single strand fibre-optics, and provide a 100Base-FX WDM single strand fibre. Easily mounted on a DIN-rail, panel or piggyback, they have an embedded switch controller that supports auto-negotiation and a memory buffer that supports store-and-forward transmission.
