Hittite’s HMC707LP5(E) and HMC708LP5(E) are digitally controlled variable gain amplifiers which can be programmed to provide between -2,5 dB attenuation and 29 dB of gain, in 0,5 dB steps. The 707 operates from 700 MHz to 1200 MHz and delivers a noise figure of 0,8 dB in its maximum gain state, with output IP3 of up to +38 dBm. By contrast, the 708 operates from 1700 MHz and 2200 GHz and delivers a noise figure of 1 dB, with output IP3 of up to +37 dBm. Both devices’ dual mode gain control interface accepts either a three-wire serial input or 6-bit parallel word. They also feature a user selectable power up state and a serial output for cascading other Hittite serially controlled components. Typical applications include cellular infrastructure, Wibro, WiMAX, 4G, microwave radio and VSAT.
