Infineon bolsters RF Tx/Rx portfolio

8 July 2009 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Infineon has enhanced its transmitter and receiver product portfolio by adding dedicated industry and consumer variants. The '7-series' family (TDA7xxx, PMA7xxx) is optimised to meet industry requirements such as reduced temperature range.

The transmitter ICs in the new range are single-chip ASK/FSK devices operating in the 434 MHz and/or 868 MHz frequency bands. They contain a fully integrated PLL synthesiser and a high-efficiency power amplifier to drive the antenna.

The receivers are single-chip FSK/ASK superheterodyne receivers (SHR) for the 434 MHz and/or 868 MHz frequency bands with very low power consumption.

They contain a low noise amplifier (LNA), a double balanced mixer, a fully integrated VCO, a PLL synthesiser, a crystal oscillator for the reference frequency, a limiter with RSSI generator, a PLL-based FSK demodulator, a data filter, a peak detector and an advanced data comparator.

For a combined transmitter/microcontroller solution, the SmartLEWIS MCU family comprises an ASK/FSK transmitter for the sub-1 GHz ISM frequency bands with embedded 8051 microcontroller as base functionality. The internal multichannel 10-bit analog to digital converter with its flexible high-gain settings can be used as an interface for a broad variety of analog sensors. The integrated LF receiver enables wireless wake-up in battery operated applications with ultra-long lifetime or even contactless configuration of the device. An embedded software function library provides many powerful functions like AES encryption and EEPROM emulation.
