I/Q mixer for 10 to 16 GHz

30 September 2009 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

Hittite has introduced a new GaAs MMIC I/Q mixer which is ideally suited for use as either an image reject mixer or as a single sideband up-converter in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radio, military and space, and VSAT applications from 10 to 16 GHz.

The HMC775LC5 is a compact I/Q mixer with internal LO amplifier which utilises two standard Hittite double balanced mixer cells and a 90° hybrid. It exhibits up to +25 dBm input IP3, and a wide IF bandwidth spanning DC to 3,5 GHz. Due to optimised balun structures, the device provides LO to RF isolation of 45 dB and image rejection of 25 dB, making it suitable for microwave radio and VSAT applications. Operating with LO drive levels of 0 dBm and low conversion loss of 8 dB, the HMC775LC5 is a highly effective space-saving alternative to hybrid-style image reject mixers and single sideband up-converter assemblies.

Specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C, the HMC775LC5 is housed in a RoHS-compliant leadless 5 x 5 mm ceramic SMT package, and requires only 114 mA from a +5 V d.c. bias supply.
