Halo Electronics has announced the industry's first six-port 10/100Base-TX transformer module. The six-pack provides six ports of IEEE-802.3 compliant magnetics in a single compact package. According to the company a significant real estate savings is achieved through the use of a proprietary design technique enabling a 50% increase of ports per board. The small size of this part makes it ideal for high density repeaters and switches.
The six-pack is compatible with all next generation, 'Auto-MDIX', Phys, including Broadcom and Level One. The family is UL1950, IEC950 and EN60950 recognised. Port pricing is said to be competitive with the existing four-port package solutions. Samples and prototypes are available from ASIC Design Services
