PAs for point-to-point radio

12 May 2010 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT

New from Avago is a pair of 1 W power amplifiers (PAs) for use in millimetre wave communication transmitters that operate at frequencies between 37 and 40 GHz. The AMMP-6442 MMIC is a linear power amplifier offered in a 5 x 5 mm surface mount (SMT) package, while the AMMC-6442 is a MMIC die. Typical applications include point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio systems. Both devices provide 30 dBm of typical output power and 23 dB of small-signal gain and are designed to provide high efficiency to help reduce power consumption. These MMICs, which provide good linearity and high gain, are suitable for high linear applications and have 35 dBm output third order intercept point, making them suited for use as last stage power amplifiers in systems that require increased linearity for high data rate transmission.
