New from Maxim are the MAX4998 two-lane and MAX14998 four-lane high-speed, DisplayPort passive switches with separate AUX and HPD controls.
By employing two independent digital-control inputs, the devices utilise n-channel switches to route high-frequency (beyond 8 GHz) and low-frequency signals between a peripheral controller hub (PCH) and either a docking station or DisplayPort connector. These devices meet the new eDP VESA standards for DisplayPort applications, making them suitable for desktop and notebook PCs where glitch-free switching is needed. This compliance is enabled by ultra-low on-capacitance and return loss supporting data rates of greater than 2,7 Gbps.
The devices operate from a single 3,3 V supply and are fully specified over the
-40°C to +85°C temperature range. Both are available in industry-standard packages: the MAX4998 in a 3,5 x 5,5 mm, 28-pin TQFN package, and the MAX14998 in a 3,5 x 9 mm, 42-pin TQFN package.
