Hittite has introduced the HMC-C083 MicroSynth, a fully integrated broadband synthesiser module. Operating from 2 to 6 GHz, it delivers phase noise performance of -122 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset, and features an hermetic 35,8 x 19 x 5,8 mm package. The device features auto and manually triggered sweep functions, making it a valuable building block for both military and test and measurement applications. Typical output frequency range is 2 to 6 GHz with an average output power of +17 dBm. In fractional-N mode, the HMC-C083 MicroSynth can realise step sizes as low as 0,6 Hz, which is ideal for frequency hopping communications systems. The chip also integrates low-noise regulators and an output buffer amplifier, resulting in enhanced ripple rejection and output power performance.
