Connect One has released Nano WiReach USB, a miniature Wi-Fi module that brings wireless connectivity to consumer devices not originally intended to support wireless functionality.
Because an integrated CPU and memory manage the wireless LAN functions on the module, it boasts robust, high-speed, 802.11n-compliant wireless LAN for home gateways, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, printers, medical devices and other products. Its host-offload capability enables it to deliver PHY rates of up to 150 Mbps.
Autonomous operation transparently supports a number of features designed to boost performance, including an internal diversity switch that selects antenna 1 or 2 for baseband signal processing, as well as WPA2 security with WEP, TKIP and AES encryption in hardware.
Nano WiReach USB comes with full developer support, including a full driver support package for Linux, Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP. It is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11b, g, d, e, i and n. It enables very simple integration via a 4-pin header for the USB interface. The module supports a broad temperature range of 0° to 70°C, is RoHS compliant and measures 3,0 x 1,5 x 8,8 cm.
