ST Microelectronics' ICAR-USB is a reference design modem based on the ST5481 'Louis' (low-cost USB-ISDN solution) device which combines ISDN link access and an USB interface to allow a simple USB/ISDN modem design with all ISDN protocols and upper applications processed in the HOST PC.
The manufacturer gives the following specs:
* ISDN interface: OSI level 1 in conformance with ETSI300012/ANSI T1.605; full duplex transmission at 192 KBps on separate Tx & Rx twisted pairs; 2 B-channels at 64 Kbps each, 1 D channel at 16 Kbps.
* USB interface: USB 1.0 specs full compliance, USB 1.1 compatibility; control access and interrupt handling provided through USB interface; all FIFOS needed included for USB/ISDN data processing.
* Power supply: internal regulator for 3,3 V generation from USB bus 5 V; high/low power pin programmable, wake-up capability.
The reference design includes schematics, BOM, PCB layout, software drivers (Windows 98/Me/2000 are available) and manuals. It is also fully ETSI qualified.
