SIMCom has announced its new flagship GPRS module using a low-cost Mediatek chipset to reduce cost compared to the existing SIM900 family. The SIM800H is a full quad-band Class 12 GPRS module with a half-rate, full-rate and enhanced full-rate tri-codec for voice. It has an embedded TCP/UDP stack, supports both FTP and HTTP protocols, and has SMS, MMS, e-mail and DTMF functionality. Like the SIM900, it also supports jamming detection and has optional Embedded AT, which will allow customers to make use of the devices’ keyboard interface, GPIO and ADC. The module also boasts both an FM and Bluetooth antenna pad. The 15,8 x 17,8 x 2,4 mm, LGA-format device has USB and serial interfaces.
