Exar’s XR2280x is a family of High-Speed USB 2.0 bridges with an embedded hub and seven downstream USB functions: 10/100 Ethernet controller, four UARTs, multi-master capable of I²C control, and a dedicated GPIO controller. The Ethernet controller supports auto-negotiation, auto-MDIX, checksum offload, auto-polarity correction in 10Base-T and remote wakeup. The UART has a maximum data rate of 15 Mbps together with a large 1024-Byte TX FIFO and RX FIFO. The I²C and EDGE controllers (up to 32 GPIOs) can be accessed via the USB HID interface. The EDGE pins or I²C interface can be used for controlling and monitoring peripherals, and up to two EDGE pins can be configured for PWM generation.
